Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)
The tourism industry is a vital part of our country’s economy. It also plays a major role in showcasing our country’s rich heritage and culture. India is a young nation. The potential and power of its demographic dividend can be harnessed to promote responsible and sustainable tourism in the country. The Hon’ble Prime Minister has highlighted Tourism as a medium that fosters national integration and unity amongst people from different parts of the country. Accordingly, the Ministry of Tourism has initiated ‘YUVA Tourism Clubs’ as a part of the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations.
Tourism Clubs are a step in that direction.
Vision
The vision is to nurture and develop young ambassadors of Indian tourism who would become aware of tourism possibilities in India, appreciate our rich cultural heritage and develop an interest and passion for tourism. These young ambassadors would be catalysts for promoting tourism in India. Participation in Tourism Clubs is also expected to facilitate the development of soft skills like teamwork, management, and leadership besides encouraging the adoption of responsible tourism practices and concern for sustainable tourism.
Objectives
- To promote tourism awareness and knowledge among students.
- To provide a platform for students to engage in tourism-related activities.
- To encourage active participation in field trips, workshops, and tourism events.
- To build leadership, teamwork, and event management skills in students.
- Spread awareness about tourism opportunities and encourage learners to be skilled professionals and entrepreneurs in the hospitality and tourism sector.
- To facilitate better coordination for study tours and student exchange programs.
Responsibilities
- Promoting tourism: Create awareness about tourism opportunities in India, and promote the country's cultural heritage and natural beauty.
- Educating youth: Teach students about the country's geography and cultures, and the importance of travel and tourism in education.
- Practicing responsible tourism: Learn and promote responsible tourism practices, and adopt sustainable tourism practices.
- Developing soft skills: Develop soft skills like teamwork, management, and leadership.
- Organizing activities: Organize activities like competitions, sustainable tours and study tours.
- Training students: Train students to become tourist guides and volunteers in the hospitality sector.
- Facilitating coordination: Facilitate coordination for student exchange programs and study tours.
Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)
- The Coordinator, Members, and students of the Committee will plan the activities to be conducted in an academic year.
- The Coordinator will get formal permission from the Chairperson to execute the planned activities.
- The Coordinator will notify the volunteers about the activities through a circular and encourage maximum participation in all events.
- The Coordinator ensures that all activities are executed as planned and incorporated into the institution’s calendar of events.
- The coordinator will take feedback on each activity from its members and volunteers organized by the wing to know the quality of the activity organized and if required, to enhance the quality of the activities organized under the wing.
