Extracurricular activities, particularly sports, play a crucial role not only in enhancing an individual's physical health but also in significantly boosting mental capabilities. As a premier institution, the college provides students with an excellent platform to excel in their areas of potential. The campus is equipped with facilities for indoor games such as chess, carrom, and table tennis, along with a spacious outdoor area for sports including cricket, football, basketball, and lawn tennis. Furthermore, there is a 400-metre track field and a multi-gym dedicated to improving students' physical endurance.

Participation Procedure for inter-college and university level competitions:

  1. At the beginning of the academic year, Kuvempu University conducts a meeting with the physical directors of all degree colleges under its jurisdiction to decide on the events to be held and the venues for these events.
  2. Following this meeting, Kuvempu University sends a circular to all colleges, detailing the events, dates, venues, and selection trials.
  3. The physical education director of each institution posts the circular on the notice board and distributes it to all classes. Students interested in participating in the sports events are encouraged to enroll their names with the physical education director.
  4. Students then have the opportunity to participate in the institution's selection trials. On the previously announced day, the sports committee selects students for the college team based on merit and performance. Selected students receive training through regular practice sessions.
  5. After the team is selected, a 15-day coaching camp is conducted on the college campus. A proposal for approval to send the college team is submitted to the management through the principal.
Inter Department Sports:
  • The Physical Education Director convenes a meeting with the Sports Committee members to organize inter-department sports and events, during which the dates are established. Both individual and team events are planned.
  • In the meeting, the fixtures will be drawn, and after receiving approval from the Principal, the matches will be conducted accordingly. The winning and runner-up teams will be awarded individual medals and certificates.
Gymnasium

The gym is well-equipped with a multi-gym, free weights, and a variety of fitness and aerobic equipment. Additionally, it offers ample space for cardiovascular workouts, strength training, wellness activities, and general fitness improvement. The Department of Physical Education oversees the gym, which is open to all members of PES. The monthly gym fee is Rs. 450/- plus GST for staff and students only.

Sports Event

  1. Our students participated in the Intercollegiate Volleyball Tournament held from 17th to 18th July, 2023, at GFGC, Shikaripura.
  2. Our students took part in the Intercollegiate Weightlifting and Powerlifting Competition held from June 26th to 28th June, 2023, at GFGC, Tarikere.
  3. Our college Throwball team participated in the Kuvempu University Intercollegiate Women’s Meet from 19th to 21st June, 2023, at JCBM College, Sringeri.
  4. Our college Football team competed in the Kuvempu University Intercollegiate Football Tournament from 14th to 15th June, 2023, at NESIAS, Shivamogga.
  5. Our college students attended the Kuvempu University Cricket Men’s Team selection trials on 9th and 10th February, 2023, at PESIAMS (Atal Bihari Vajpayee Stadium), Shivamogga.
  6. Our Athletics team participated in the Kuvempu University Intercollegiate Athletics Championship from 26th to 28th December, 2022, at Nehru Stadium, Shivamogga.
  7. Mr. Likith C.Y., a 2nd-year B.Com student, participated in the Kuvempu University Wrestling Men’s Team Selection Trials on 17th December, 2022, at Jnanasahydri, Shankaraghatta, Shivamogga.
  8. Our college students participated in the Kuvempu University Volleyball Women’s Team Selection Trials held on 15th December, 2022, at Jnanasahydri, Shankaraghatta, Shivamogga.
  9. Our college students participated in the Kuvempu University Volleyball Team Selection Trials on 13th and 14th December, 2022, at Jnanasahydri, Shankaraghatta, Shivamogga.
  10. Our college students participated in the Kuvempu University Intercollegiate Chess Competition held from 5th to 7th December, 2022, at DVS College, Shivamogga.
  11. Our college students attended the Kuvempu University Football Men’s Team Selection Trials on 8th December, 2022, at NESIAS College, Shivamogga.
  12. Mr. Ullas L.U., a 3rd-year BCA student, participated in the Kuvempu University Kabaddi Men’s Team Selection Trials on 24th and 25th November, 2022, at Jnanasahydri, Shankaraghatta, Shivamogga.
  1. Mr. Syed Sadiq, a B.Com student represented the Karnataka Volleyball team & won 4th YSPA National Fedaration Cup 2024 which was held at Calangute, Goa from 8th to 10th October 2024.
  2. Ms. Amrutha K, III Year B.Sc. The student represented Karnataka Throwball team & won 16th South Zone Senior Throwball Championship 2024 held at Sanskriti School Greenwood Layout, Varanasi, Bangalore from 2nd to 4th August 2024.
  3. Mr. Prajwal B, III Year B.Com Student represented U23 Shivamogga Zone Team participated in Inter Zone Cricket Tournament which was organized by Karnataka State Cricket Association from 21st to 30th July 2024 held at Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore.
  4. Mr. Syed Sadiq, 2 Year B.Com student secured the Runner up position in the meet.
  5. The Department of Sports and Youth Services, Shivamogga has organized Bhadravathi Taluk Level Dussehra Sports on 24th September 2023 held at VISL Stadium, Bhadravathi
  6. Mr. Sanskar Salecha S, II Year B.Com & Mr. Ashwin D’Souza, I Year BBA students has represented Kuvempu University Kho Kho (M) team and participated in South Zone Inter University Kho Kho (M) Tournament organized by Calicut University, Kerala from 26th to 31st December 2023.
  7. Nithin C I Year B.Sc. student has represented Kuvempu University Yogasana (M) team and participated in South West Zone Inter University Yogasana (M) Competition organized by Anna University, Chennai from 1st to 4th December 2023.
  8. The Department of Sports and Youth Services, Davangere has organized Bangalore Rural Division Level Dussehra Sports on 6th & 7th Oct 2023 held at District stadium Davangere. Mr. Sanskar Salecha, III Year B.Com student, secured the runner up position in the meet.
  9. The Football team participated in the Kuvempu University Intercollegiate Football Tournament from 14th to 15th June 2023 at NESIAS, Shivamogga and secured Runner up position of the Tournament.
  10. Mr. Prajwal B, B.Com has participated in the South Zone Inter University Cricket (Men) Tournament held at REVA University, Bangalore from 15th to 26th Feb 2023.
  11. Ms. Sushma C G has participated in the South Zone Inter University Volleyball Women Tournament held at Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam from 22th to 31th Dec 2022.
  12. Mr. Gowda Vighnesh Chandra, participated in the South Zone Inter University Football tournament held at University Of Calicut, Kerala from 19th to 31th Dec 2022.
  13. Mr. Prajwal B II Year B.Com student has represented Kuvempu University Cricket (MEN) team participated in the South Zone Inter University Cricket (M) tournament organized by Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science, Chennai from 7th June to 15th June 2022.
  14. Mr. Rohan Jadav BBA student has participated in Kuvempu University Inter Collegiate Power Lifting Competition held at Jnana Sahyadri, Shankaraghatta, Shivamogga on the 18th and 19th Feb 2022. In this tournament, the student bagged a Silver medal in 105 kg category.
