Sankalpa Forum

Introduction

Sankalpa is the student forum of the Postgraduate Department of Commerce at our institution. Established in the academic year 2014-15, this forum is dedicated to fostering the overall development of students by organizing various activities that encourage creative thinking and skill-building. Its primary focus is to equip students with the tools to tackle real-world challenges and to explore the complexities of the business environment. In addition to enhancing students' academic foundations, Sankalpa aims to stimulate their innovative and inquisitive minds.
The forum is led by a Chairperson, Coordinator, Members, Student President, Student Vice-President, and Student Secretary.
Sankalpa organizes a variety of activities, including special invited talks, workshops, industry visits, presentations, and innovative interclass competitions. These initiatives are designed to enhance students' creativity, develop career-building skills, and improve their ability to apply concepts in practical settings. The forum also encourages students to actively participate in co-curricular activities and management fests hosted by colleges in and around Shimoga.

Objectives

  1. To offer students practical exposure through expert guest lectures and interactions with industry professionals.
  2. To prepare students for active participation in conferences and seminars.
  3. To support and guide students in preparing for competitive exams like UGC NET, KSET, IBPS, and others.
  4. To mentor and train students for successful interview experiences.
  5. To provide a platform for students to showcase their creativity and talents, while enhancing their soft skills and presentation abilities.
  6. To foster a sense of social responsibility, organize programs such as social interaction events, blood donation drives, and more.
  7. To create a weekly gathering space for students to share ideas, thoughts, and learning experiences while having fun together.

Responsibility

  1. The Coordinator conducts the meeting to form the committee.
  2. The Chairperson, Coordinator, and forum members select the President, Vice-President, and Secretary among the students.
  3. The Chairperson, Coordinator, and members nominate two active students from each class to serve as active student members of the forum.
  4. The Coordinator identifies both internal and external judges to evaluate various interclass competitions.
  5. The Coordinator maintains reports and documents related to all forum activities.

Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)

  1. The Coordinator, along with the President, Vice-President, and Secretary of the Student Forum, will plan a list of activities for the academic year.
  2. The Coordinator will obtain formal permission to execute the planned activities.
  3. The Coordinator will inform students about the scheduled activities through a circular and encourage maximum participation in all events.
  4. The Coordinator will ensure that all activities are carried out as planned and included in the institution's calendar of events, as decided in the meeting.
  5. The Coordinator will gather feedback after each event organized by the forum to assess its quality and make improvements, if necessary, for future programs organized under the forum.
