Cluster Forum

Introduction

The Cluster is a student forum within the Department of Computer Science at our institution. This forum aims to promote the overall development of students by organizing various activities that focus on creative thinking and skill enhancement to prepare them for professional challenges in the real world. It also provides opportunities for students to explore real business scenarios. In addition to strengthening their academic backgrounds, the forum seeks to stimulate innovative and inquisitive thinking among students.
The Cluster forum was established during the academic year 2012-13 and is composed of a Chairperson, Coordinator, Members, Student President, Student Vice-President, Student Secretary, and all BCA/B.Sc. students as members.
The Cluster forum conducts a range of student development programs, including invited special talks, workshops, industry visits, presentations, and innovative inter-class competitions. These initiatives are designed to help students enhance their creative abilities, build the skills necessary for prospective careers, improve their ability to apply concepts, and encourage participation in various co-curricular activities and fests organised by other colleges in and around Shivamogga.

Objectives

  1. Motivate students to understand and strengthen their potentialities.
  2. Enrich inquisitiveness quality.
  3. Provide opportunities for self-employability.
  4. Enhance IT skills of students for the competitive world.
  5. Develop entrepreneurship skills among students and improve leadership qualities.
  6. Organize intra and inter-college/class competitions to enhance overall development.
  7. Facilitate student platforms to exchange views and thoughts on technology.

Responsibility

  1. The coordinator conducts the meeting for the composition of the committee.
  2. The chairperson, coordinator, and other forum members select the students' president, vice president, and student secretary.
  3. The Chairperson, coordinator, and members nominate 2 active students from each class for the post of active student members of the forum.
  4. The coordinator prepares the semester-wise COE in consultation with the committee members, submits a copy, and ensures that the events are conducted according to the schedule.
  5. The coordinator identifies in-house or external judges to judge various interclass competitions.
  6. Maintains the reports & documents of forum activities.

Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)

  1. The Coordinator, along with the President, Vice-President, and Secretary of the student body, will plan the list of activities to be conducted throughout the academic year.
  2. The Coordinator will obtain formal permission from higher authorities to execute the planned activities.
  3. The Coordinator will notify students about the activities through a circular and encourage maximum participation in all events.
  4. The Coordinator will ensure that all activities are incorporated into the institution's event calendar and are executed on time as decided in the meetings.
  5. The Coordinator will gather feedback for each event organized by the forum to assess the quality of the event and, if necessary, to improve future programs organized under the forum.
